About Marguerite Empey:
Hal Adams photographed Marguerite Empey, a California model and nudist, in what turned out to be the first of two appearances as a Playmate. Author Gay Talese interviewed her — under her married name, Diane Webber — for his landmark study of the sexual revolution, “Thy Neighbor’s Wife,” published in 1980. Marguerite’s second centerfold, shot by Russ Meyer, was published in February 1956; in 1958, she starred on the cover of the very first Playmate Calendar, which sold for fifty cents — then the same price as the magazine.
Everyone expects the final pose to be a pretty and provocative one, but when the model is as attractive as Marguerite Empey even the preparations are a pleasure to behold. This is Marguerite’s second Playmate appearance; the photographer is Russ Meyer, who previously filled these pages with pictures of his wife Eve.
